HBCU Movement Prepares for Clash Against Lonestar Crusaders in Bid for Redemption

Houston, Texas — November 16th, 2023 — The HBCU Movement gears up for a pivotal matchup against the Lonestar Crusaders on Sunday, November 19th, aiming to rebound from a hard-fought loss against the #12 Alamo City All Stars last weekend. Heading into this contest with a 1-2 record, the Movement is poised to face the 0-3 Crusaders, who will also contend with the Houston Redstorm (3-1) in the weekend doubleheader.

The Movement’s Coach Williams emphasizes the team’s competitive spirit in the American Basketball Association (ABA) despite the early season challenges. “We have been very competitive in the ABA in our first two games, losing both by a total of 14 points. We have not had our whole team together all season, so it’s hard to gauge where we are as a team. It’s still early in the season, and we are still adjusting to the rules and style of play of the ABA,” Coach Williams commented.

Underscoring the significance of the upcoming game, Williams stated, “We really need this win heading into the Thanksgiving break. Once again, we will be shorthanded, but that is not an excuse. We can’t have a worse game than we had last weekend, so we should be able to come out aggressive in front of our home crowd and get the win.”

The Movement’s two leading scorers, James Harrison (Texas Southern University) and Sam Shivers (Tennessee State University), will be pivotal in securing victory against the Crusaders. The team is optimistic about the potential for a strong performance, aiming to showcase resilience and adaptability.
